long overdue...

hello to the 3 or 4 of you who still faithfully read my practically non existant blog,

it has been a while hasn't it? this not having internet at home thing sure is a pain in the butt though i seem to be able to find lots of stuff to keep me occupied that i don't really miss not having cable or internet at home. it's been almost a year of that...kinda hard to imagine! all i can say is, thank goodness ABC is the one clear channel on my tv so I can still get my fill of Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives and Dancing with the Stars...

But anyway, the past couple of months have been pretty amazing. Since I left traumantic Omaha, I have been to Springfield, IL (where I tried a horseshoe burger for the first time), Minneapolis (where I got to catch up with Lilian and Kelly, who happened to be visiting family there), Fargo (where I stayed in the same hotel that celebrities like Carrie Underwood, Reba Mcintyre and Eric Clapton have stayed!), Milwaukee (where I ate yummy cheesecurds at the state fair) and Portland, ME (where I enjoyed eating lobster everyday, prepared in every way imagineable!)

Sometime in between those trips God blessed with a promotion at work! so I am currently an Assistant Account Executive and I am very previlidged to still be working on the got milk? account. It's a huge relief to finally have a real, 100% fulltime job that doesn't expire! Although it's still not very fun being a grown up with adult responsibilities like bills and what nots! I am still travelling for work, are you surprised? This October, I am gone every weekend for events. In fact, this is the reason why I can catch up on my blog, because I have internet at this hotel that I'm staying at and I have a little free time to update some, unlike when I'm in Chicago and can only do so when I make it out to the library.

Also, another exciting update in my life is that I recently started dating a very nice, wonderful guy! He's from my small group at church and we became fast friends after he helped me do my taxes earlier this year. turns out we got along pretty well and started going out after spending the summer getting to know each other better over several "non-dates" (we both have a love for Mexican food and Margaritas!) and plenty of hanging out with our friends. It's kinda wierd being in a relationship after being single for so long, I almost feel like a different person. Even one of my old friends made a comment that Miss Commitment Phobic is no longer. He's a keeper - though he loves the Bears, he tivos their games so we can take long walks by lake Michigan while the weather is still warm.

I am also going home at the end of the year for my high school best friend's wedding. It is so exciting and I can't wait! Can you believe that I bought a beautiful bridesmaid's dress for only $20? I was in Memphis for work last weekend and did a television interview there. While looking up my interview on the station's website, I saw a story on a store that sold formal wear for casual prices and headed there during my free time. It's all overstock dresses and most aren't very pretty, but I found one in my size that I absolutely loved. And my friend loves the dress. I figured that since it was only $20, I wouldn't mind buying a different dress if she hated it since I didn't spend very much on it.

Anyway, I realize this update is going all over the place, so I really should end here. Hopefully it won't be too long before I update again!

updates...updates...

hi friends,

sorry it's been too long. as usual i've been trying to not work so much and enjoy the city i call home even though lately it seems that i'm only home long enough to do laundry. i haven't gone grocery shopping in weeks and it's been going on long enough to the point that it doesn't even bother me anymore.

i was recently in omaha for forever. too too long. but i think i just about did everything while i was there. eat an omaha steak. check. go shopping like i've never shopped before. check. made my first piece of jewellery - a necklace. check. get hit and run by an 18 wheeler. check. yep, i was in an accident there, i can't seem to escape accidents when i'm travelling for work can i? but i'm just thankful that nobody was hurt. and i was glad to get a new car to drive because that car was a piece of crap to begin with.

i'm currently at the halfway point of my tour and i can start to see the light at the end of this tunnel. my very last city ends the second last week of August. I have no clue what's up ahead. Of course I'd like to stay on with the company and will do my best to get promoted. But I think I also need to start looking for other jobs soon, just to be safe. All I know is that this is the last temporary job I'm ever taking. After 2 years of being done with college, I am ready for a real, full fledge full time job, not anymore semi fulltime work that expires after a certain period of time. I don't mind travelling for work, in fact, I'd like to keep doing it. I'd just like a company to keep me hired permanently, please, pretty please? I need to be a real grown up with real responsibilities. Every where left and right I have peers getting married, having babies, purchasing houses, buying cars, investing in property, etc. so i think the least i can do is find a grown up job, quit depending on my parents for financial assistance (they agreed to pay for my car insurance this year) and start doing things people do when they grow up.

pray for me will ya? i need a lot of guidance and i'm having trouble hearing God's voice. I think I need to talk to him more and listen a little (or a lot) better. i need to tune out the world a little more bit i think. like any young person i'm trying to find my place in this world but i keep forgetting that this is not my home, i shouldn't get too comfortable here.

thanks!

for the comments to the previous post. i know i'm usually bad about addressing the questions raised in my comments and that's probably because i take so long to make a new post that i forget about the previous post. anyway, this post is for all you faithful readers! come to think about it, ever since i've started blogging, i've gone through about 4 different blogs, and they've all gone through several different phases (remember when the posts were always about food? or about my ever changing hairstyles? or about my hotdog adventures? or when i wasn't allowed to blog so started blogging in code and you guys helped me coin a new name and a new ride?) ahhh...fun times!

anyway, let's see...first up, Jamie Foxx was in OKC for a concert. I guess when he got done, he wanted to check out the fabulous nightlife there and what do you know, great minds think alike and we found ourselves at the same club. To be honest, I wouldn't have known it was him had my coworker not seen him walk into the entrance. I got some pictures but he was really far away, so it's hard to tell. I'll try to post the picture here, but i'll probably need to enlarge it and crop it, and maybe circle Jamie's head for you all to know which one was him.

getting hit on...hahaha...they're mostly stupid and have to do with people being obnoxiously intoxicated and they don't really deserve getting mentioned, but i did get hit on by a radio dj on the air. i was wearing my got milk t-shirt, and the dj said "hey, these girls are really cute! one of them is wearing a t-shirt that says got milk? and what i want to know is got boyfriend? got a date?" i couldn't even defend myself as i wasn't part of the interview but luckily the female dj cut in and said "got game? not!" and changed the subject. i think that dj was intoxicated on milk...he had chugged 32 ounces during that interview...

i must say i had an interesting time in OKC, people there were really nice and I was glad to not have to deal with traffic or crazy drivers like back here in chicago. and free parking was great too! and i don't know why, but it was sooooo comforting to eat at panera! charity, we do have paneras here in chicago, but not as many as missouri has. i think there are probably about as many paneras in chicago as there are in columbia. we have corner bakeries everywhere here, but they can't hold a candle to panera. and i actually like the salads in panera, and i am not a salad person, at all. and there's absolutely no sonic here, not good! did you all know that OKC is the home of Sonic? There's a huge Sonic building downtown, and their downtown attraction called Bricktown - think of it as their version of KC's plaza without the shopping, just food, like a really mini San Antonio Riverwalk, even has a Sonic, but it's not typical drive-in Sonic. And of course, there was one in the airport where I enjoyed a strawberry limeaid. it took a lot of willpower not to order tater totts, but i've been eating so much here that I couldn't let myself do that.

I was hoping to see Toby Keith when I went to his restaurant yesterday, and although i knew it probably wasn't going to happen, i was holding out since i had already seen one celebrity in OKC. Of course that didn't happen, but I ate some really good prime rib and buttermilk pie, yum yum. I think Toby Keith is one good cook! hahahaha! actually, to be honest, i don't know whether i even know a toby keither song or even what he really looks like...hahaha! I actually wikipedia-ed him before going to his restaurant. I also heard Carrie Underwood on the radio at least 5 times a day the past week to the point that I now know all the words to "Before He Cheats." It was a few days before I remembered she's from Oklahoma and that's probably why they keep playing her song.

anyway...this weekend i'm going to a festival where Wayne Newton is the grand marshall and a nascar driver i don't know is going to be the sports marshall. Billy Graham's granddaughter is also going to be there, apparently she was the festival queen a long while back. this festival is in virginia, so it's going to be quite interesting being there in the wake of all that has happened in that state. Yesterday I visited the Oklahoma City Memorial for the bombing and it was definitely something. I was there for the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon and I saw so many people who wore shirts that showed that they were running in honor of someone. so many times i hear about tragic events that happen from the media, and it always feels like just another story to me, but it's times like this take help me remember that behind those news stories, there are actually many more people whose lives have been forever changed by those events.

So when I found out I was going to Oklahoma City...

...I figured I would see lots of cowboys

...I figured just about everyone here would have an accent

...I figured I would probably be one of three Asians found in the whole city

...and I was right for the most part, BUT I never imagined that I would see Jamie Foxx here, of all places!

anyway, OKC gives me a nice feeling because people here are so nice and they have many things that remind me of Missouri...like Sonics and Paneras everywhere! What is not so nice though, is being hit on by wierdos three different times in a day!

banished to a corner...

hahaha, so if i sit in a corner in my kitchen, and put my wireless usb adapter on my sink (that's dry and not full of dishes of course) i can catch an open wireless signal that's actually pretty strong. but somehow it doesn't work anywhere else in my apartment! anyway, i'm hardly at home and i don't like the insecurity of doing something like this so i won't be taking advantage of this too often but i figured this would be a good time for me to update! hahahahaha!

anyway, this month i've gone to two texas cities already and its been going well. I ate really well of course! hahaha, but i think i prefer New Mexican-Mexican food than Tex-Mex. I'm going to Oklahoma City this coming week, not sure what all I'll do there, I think we might actually have some free time when we're there. But the next few weeks are going to be a little crazy! I come back from OKC the following Monday, that same Thursday I leave for work at a festival near D.C. that weekend, back for two days before heading to Wichita for the remainder of the week, come back to the office for a full week before heading to KC for the weekend for Kristin's wedding, more days in the office before going to California to visit my sister over Memorial Day weekend and then I come back on Tuesday morning and leave on Thursday for a 10 day trip to Omaha and Lincoln. I bet you all are really jealous of me! Haha! I guess I will never know what a summer weekend in Chicago is like...
